Victron Energy Protector BatteryProtect 12/24V 65A
What is Smart BatteryProtect? It is a system designed to protect the battery from excessive discharges and can be used as an on/off switch for the system.
The Smart BatteryProtect 12/24V 65A disconnects non-essential loads from the battery before it is completely discharged (which would damage the battery) or before it has insufficient charge to start the engine. The on/off input can be used as a system on/off switch.
Note: The BatteryProtect can also be used as a charge switch between a battery charger and a Li-ion battery. Refer to the connection diagram in the manual.
Maximum continuous charging current: 65A
Peak current (for 30 seconds): 250A
Working voltage range: 6 - 35V
Weight (kg): 0.2
Dimensions (mm): 48 x 55 x 106
Auto-regulated at 12/24V
In auto-regulated mode, the BatteryProtect can be controlled via the VE.Bus BMS.
Ultra-low current consumption
This is important in the case of Li-Ion batteries, especially after a disconnect due to low voltage. Refer to our Li-Ion battery datasheet and VE.Bus BMS manual for more information.
Overvoltage protection
To prevent damage to sensitive loads due to overvoltage, the load is disconnected when the DC voltage exceeds 16.3V or 32.6V respectively.
Fireproof
No relays but MOSFET switches, hence, no sparks.
Delayed alarm output
The alarm output is activated if the battery voltage falls below the pre-set disconnect level for more than 12 seconds. Therefore, when starting the engine, the alarm will not be triggered. The alarm output is an open-collector short-circuit-proof output to the negative rail (minus), with a maximum current of 50 mA. Typically, the alarm output is used to activate a sound signal, LED, or relay.
Delayed disconnect and reconnect of the load
The load will be disconnected 90 seconds after the battery voltage has dropped below the preset level. If the battery voltage increases again towards the connection threshold within this time period (after, for example, the engine has been started), the load will not be disconnected.
